Complete rebuild of their website that I did UI/UX wireframes, design and development. Launched in 2020 and still live today.

LaRosa's website

Starting from the beginning.

If there’s one thing I know it’s pizza websites 😁.

UI/UX

I am very proud of this project. We were given adequate time and given full control, a rarity in this industry. Originally I was just tasked with development but after imploring we need to do wireframes the client and my agency (small agency) saw the importance and benefit. I didn’t have to think much about how a pizza website should be laid out as I have been to quite a few over the years. I first decided the navigation then once we agreed drew up the detailed pages. I used Balsamiq for this.

My initial navigation proposal.

Design

Next up was the design. Fortunately we had been given new logos and colors by another agency. I however had to decide how they would translate to web. I worked with our designers on this creating many of the elements I would later have to develop.

Various screenshots of the mobile experience.

Development

This is one of the cleanest sites I have ever created. At the time of launch we were passing all core web vitals. This site was built on .NET core with the absolute minimal needed to reduce bloat and get ahead of the competitors. For CSS we used SASS and Grunt for our task runner. We hosted the site on Azure.

The Azure hosting was my favorite part we had it setup where the live and staging sites would listen for Github merges to deploy. Azure also did an amazing job scaling up and down automatically during peak traffic. It was alot of fun setting up the server and learning everything it can do. That was my most robust hosting environment at the time.

Some completed pages.

Check it out!

This is still their current site and can be found at LaRosa’s Pizzeria.
